About the Role
Location: Keighley
Pay: £13.50 per hour
Contract: Temporary, ongoing
Hours: Full-time
Shift: Day shift
Key Duties
Read and understand complex engineering drawings, symbols, dimensions and tolerances. Measure and mark out raw materials accurately in accordance with blueprint specifications. Shape, finish and prepare components using hand tools including files, saws, scrapers and drills. Carry out precision bench fitting, including filing, sawing, tapping and reaming. Assemble mechanical components and ensure they meet required specifications. Check components for accuracy and quality using precision measuring equipment, including vernier calipers, micrometers and gauges. Identify and rectify any issues with components during the fitting and assembly process. Work accurately to tight tolerances and engineering specifications. Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment. Ensure all work is completed to the required quality and safety standards.
Core Skills & Experience Required
Blueprint Literacy
Ability to confidently read and interpret 2D and/or 3D engineering drawings. Strong understanding of engineering symbols, dimensions and tolerances.
Hand Tool Proficiency
Experienced in using a range of hand tools for precision engineering work. Competent in filing, sawing, tapping, reaming and drilling metals.
Precision Measurement
Confident using vernier calipers, micrometers and gauges. Strong attention to detail when checking dimensions and finished components.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have previous experience within a Bench Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Precision Fitter or similar engineering role.
You will be practical, detail-oriented and confident working independently from engineering drawings. Accuracy and quality are essential, as the role involves producing and assembling components to precise engineering specifications.
