About the Role

About the Role:

  • Teach Humanities across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons.
  • Deliver lessons across areas such as History, Geography and Religious Education, depending on departmental requirements.
  • Provide some English cover when required, supporting pupils to maintain continuity of learning.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons in line with curriculum objectives and school schemes of work.
  • Adapt and differentiate teaching to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities, learning styles and additional needs.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment where pupils are encouraged to participate and achieve.
  • Monitor pupil progress and understanding, providing appropriate feedback and support.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement, attendance and engagement.
  • Use effective classroom management strategies to maintain a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment.
  • Support pupils with SEND and other barriers to learning through appropriate differentiation and targeted assistance.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, Heads of Department and support colleagues to ensure effective lesson delivery and pupil progress.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding, behaviour and health and safety.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching Humanities at secondary level, ideally across KS3 and KS4.
  • Be confident delivering lessons in History, Geography and/or Religious Education.
  • Be willing and able to provide some English cover when required.
  • Have strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Be able to engage pupils through varied, well-planned and appropriately differentiated lessons.
  • Have a positive and flexible approach to working across a secondary school environment.
  • Be committed to raising attainment and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.
  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEND and differing learning needs.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Provide details of the latest two references, covering the last five years’ work history.
  • Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration.
  • Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy the required compliance checks.

Reset Room Supervisor

Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Reset Room Supervisor to work in a supportive secondary school in the Burnley area. This is an ongoing role starting ASAP, working Monday to Thursday, with a pay rate of £16.66 per hour. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the school's Reset Room, providing a calm and supportive environment for pupils who have been removed from lessons due to behavioural difficulties. The role will involve helping pupils to regulate, reflect on their behaviour and prepare to return to learning. The successful candidate will work closely with the school's pastoral and teaching teams to support positive behaviour and maintain a consistent approach across the school. They will need to be confident managing challenging situations, using appropriate de-escalation and behaviour management strategies, while building positive and respectful relationships with pupils.

2 × SEND Teaching Assistants

Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for 2 dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to work on a full-time basis in a supportive secondary school in the Burnley area. These are long-term positions starting ASAP, initially running through to October half term, with the potential to extend beyond this date for the right candidates. The successful candidates will have strong previous experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and will play an important role in supporting key pupils to access learning, develop confidence and make positive progress both academically and socially.

Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

£90–£100 per day, depending on experience
Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant (SEMH) to work on a full-time basis in a supportive Secondary school in the Accrington area. This is a long-term role starting in September 2026, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position for the right candidate. The successful candidate will have experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and will play an important role in helping pupils develop emotional regulation, positive relationships and readiness to learn.
